Julie Goldman’s bicoastal show, Offensive Women, lets women speak their minds.

Julie Goldman, star of Logo’s Big Gay Sketch Show, breaks all the rules and now she’s getting even more outrageous with her wild, all-woman bi-coastal comedy show, Offensive Women. Goldman, acting as “host and hostess of the show,” is a spontaneous and physical comic who has total mastery of the stage and her audience.

She rants about how everyone’s hating on Hillary and talks about her “illegal wife” who has a Ph.D and is always “reading a book,” she says with a sneer.

Her tales of their opposites-attract relationship and the trials and tribulations of being a same-sex couple in a straight world are hilarious and resonant. All handpicked by Goldman, they are a mixed group of gay and straight comics. The Slipper Room, in New York City’s hip Lower East Side, is a cool, relaxed venue: the covers are low, there’s no two drink minimum and, on the night that I went, we were all invited to stay for the burlesque show that followed the comedy.

“Comedy clubs will only book one or two women per night because any more and it’s considered a ‘women’s show,’ ” according to Goldman.

She says she started Offensive Women to combat the lack of opportunities for women in comedy. Running in both New York City and Los Angeles, the show is bringing together a community of female comics who can collaborate on video and film projects, tour together and give each other tips on surviving in a man’s medium. Goldman hosts the New York City show and there are rotating hosts for the West Coast version at M Bar in Hollywood.

Make sure to watch her hilarious music video, “Commitment Ceremony.”
