Center TV Broadcasts The Opening Ceremony Of The Gay Games VIII Cologne 2010

On July, 31 the Gay Games VIII Cologne 2010 start with a spectacular opening ceremony – and center.tv broadcasts live.

Already at 6:30 pm the presentation duo Uwe Lautenschläger und Stefan Sartorius starts with the pre-coverage out of the transparent studio on the northern tribune. There they are welcoming tribune guests and sportsmen and –women who will be active in the events till Aug, 7.

At 7:30 pm sharp the live broadcasting of the whole opening ceremony starts. The traditional entry of the 70 national teams with overall 10.000 participants marks the beginning. Following this rousing start is a drummer’s show full of energy. Therefore Uwe Lautenschläger, who already accompanied the CSD parade for center.tv moves from the transparent studio to the press tribune. From there he will comment the evening together with Tina Stotz.

In the following, a chapter of history awaits the visitors in the stadium and the spectators of center.tv. The highest ranking politician in the 30 year long history of the Gay Games, Guido Westerwelle, vice chancellor and secretary of state of Germany and patron of the Gay Games will declare the Games formally open. Following Matthew Mitcham will speak the oath of the athletes. The Olympic Gold Medalist was one of the few openly gay sportsmen in Peking.

With this the flame of the Gay Games and the Rainbow Flag will reach the Stadium before the artistic part of the big event starts. Hundreds of artists, dancers and fire artists provide an impressive choreographed Welcome of the Nations.

The musical design is taken over by the international stars “Agnes” with her hit “Release me…” and Taylor Dayne, who will present the official hymn of the Gay Games VIII Cologne 2010 “Facing a Miracle”.
