Web Series: SCISSR

Lesbian Web Series SCISSR Returns With Season One

Scissr is the story of Emily, Corey and Aviva, three gay girls in their twenties who live in Brooklyn, NY.

Aviva just came out but doesn’t know a single lesbian, Corey’s too heartbroken to meet anyone, and Emily has already slept with half of Brooklyn, rendering her pool of choice miniscule.

Once they connect through a iPhone app called SameSame, these girls will laugh, lie and do whatever it takes to help each other navigate life in this upbeat dramedy about a unique group of young women taking charge of their twenties.

Since the pilot episode went public, Scissr has been an official selection at The LA New Media Film Festival (where it won best of LGBT category), Seattle Transmedia and Independent Film Festival, and the Brooklyn Web Fest. Jamie Clayton, from our pilot episode went on to star in the Wachowski’s Sense 8for Netflix, and actress Paulina Singer, who will be returning for season 1, went on to star in WE TV’s South of Hell with Mena Suvari, to be released later this year.

Series creator Lauren Augarten said “I set about to make Scissr because nothing I saw on TV reflected the community I was discovering as a newly out lesbian. I wanted to see my world on screen, and the overwhelmingly positive response to Scissr tells me that I am not alone in that feeling.”
