There'll be a film exploring the history of lesbian activism in the UK, from the 1920s Harlem Renaissance parties to the forgotten histories of Birmingham’s 1980s LGBT magazine In the Pink, RuPaul’s Drag Race stars and an all-out celebration of queer identities, voices and histories.

Opening on Thursday November 8 2018 at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire with an unforgettable evening of music from opera and lycra-loving cabaret sensation, Le Gateau Chocolat (YASSS) accompanied by his own seven-piece Cocoa Orchestra.

(If you haven't seen Gateau before, in this performance Le Gateau walks the tightrope between their public and private lives. Bringing distinct powerhouse vocals to an eclectic mix of pop, opera, and rock – definitely one to watch…)

“Birmingham LGBT is so excited to present this programme for 2018," said Adam Carver, SHOUT Festival Producer.

"We are proud to bring the work of internationally renowned artists to the city and further our commitment to the Midlands through supporting local artists, and platforming Midlands’ stories.

"The world of 2018 does not look so different from that of 30 years ago and the era of Section 28, our representation feels more important now than ever. There is loads to do and plenty to get involved in at this year’s SHOUT.

"We can’t wait to share it with everyone!”
