Lesbians Take Over at Gothenburg Pride

The girls take over the town at Gothenburg Pride in West Sweden.

Lesbian Take Over at Bon Bon Bar at the Clarion Post Hotel in Gothenburg on June 9th was the Pride event par excellence for the girls—and of course people of all genders—at this year's West Pride! Presented by international superstar DJ Gunn Lundemo, Lesbian Take Over offered a brilliant roster of popular DJs including WP Crew, DJ Hindocha, and DJ Kat. But the statuesque Nordic-blonde Gunn Lundemo was the attraction of the evening, joined by her deckmate and former L Word star Daniela Sea (together they form the DJ duo Sea + Gunn). The evening was glamorous, welcoming, and a welcome sight to those who think that lesbian culture is not intersectional, international, or welcoming of all expressions, identities, cultural backgrounds and age groups. The diverse crowd celebrated Pride together with friendly mixing and mingling and joyful dancing, and local VIPS were in attendance, including the movie celebrity Saga Becker, who plays a suicidal transgender teen in small-town Sweden in the acclaimed film “Something Must Break.” Gothenburg, West Sweden was once upon a time not a very LGBTQ-friendly city, but due to the tireless work of West Pride's queer activists such as Alex Snäckerström, the co-ordinator at West Pride, it's now a rainbow destination and a highly livable city for all—locals and visitors alike. Gothenburg looks forward to co-hosting EuroPride 2018 with the city of Stockholm, the first time that the pan-European Pride event has every been organized jointly. We hope to see another "Lesbian Take Over" next year!
