Eight years Of The Butch Clothing Company

One stop shop for women looking for bespoke suits and shirts

Where have the last eight years gone? That’s how long The Butch Clothing Company (The BCC) have been offering bespoke handmade suits to discerning gay women across the globe. Based in a small town in Kent in the South of England, The BCC has established itself as the “go to” brand for gay women. Offering face-to-face consultations and innovative, highly successful Skype consultations for women around the world.

Often people ask, “Why call it ‘Butch Clothing’”?

Shaz Riley, owner and founder of the company, is clear: “We wanted a name that all gay women would recognise as a company for them, regardless of how they identify. In fact, the majority of our clients are simply women that prefer to wear clothing based on masculine styles.”

Well, it certainly worked. The BCC has outlived many other companies across the globe that have tried to create the perfect suits for gay women. Through hard work and determination, The BCC found the right formulae and now has an extensive and impressive client list.

“We have a great reputation and excellent presence in the gay wedding market with many women not only coming to us for their perfect suits for their big day, but then returning for repeat orders for suits, jackets and shirts”, says Riley.

It’s worth noting that The BCC offer many different styles of shirts, from short sleeve to long sleeve with double cuffs – a particular favourite – offering gay women the chance to wear incredible cufflinks. The BCC has a full cufflink stock and also makes bespoke ties, bow ties, cravats and even cummerbunds!

The BCC really is a one stop shop for gay women who are looking for high end, bespoke suits and shirts. Clients are seen at pre-booked consultations and treated to the whole traditional tailoring experience.

“It is extremely important to us that each client feels that they are finally able to have a positive purchasing experience, without prejudice or judgement, which many of us have experienced in the past,” says Riley.

“When I created the company I also wanted gay women to be able to have the feeling of traditional tailoring concepts in a relaxed but professional environment, luckily all these years later it seems we achieved just that.”
