Rockin’ ‘n’ Rollin’ With Romi & Rose

Stars from Showtime’s hit reality TV show, The Real L Word bring their stardom to the airwaves.

Live from Los Angeles, it’s the Romi and Rose Show! The ladies from season 1, 2 and 3 of The Real L Word are back with their second year of tearing up the airwaves.

Romi Klinger and Rose Garcia started the radio show after season 3 ended and have been basically joined at the hip ever since. They are two best friends who love to talk about anything pop-culture related. Some of the topics they cover are music, film, DJs, actors, singers, LGBT related issues, politics, sports, love and no one is apparently safe from their “Trash Talk.”

The fun-loving pair decided to move away from the drama that is reality TV to focus on showing a different side of themselves when creating their radio show. I caught up with the enterprising pair during an off-air break.

What is the work environment like while working with your best friend? Is it ever hard to get work done? Is it more fun or challenging?

Romi: We are a great team. Rose and I are pretty on point with how we work at this point and it just works. We have fun and we get shit done [laughs].

Rose: It doesn't even feel like work. It's more like we are doing a school project. It's so natural… we get things done fast, effortlessly, and have fun in the process. We bounce ideas off of each other and most of the time we are on the same page so it’s been a lot of fun.

Does The Real L Word, where you both have had success, seem to be a contributing factor towards your fan base?

Romi: Yeah absolutely we are grateful for the show and all the people that have followed us from The Real L Word to the Romi and Rose Show. We love getting to show them a different side of ourselves. We are goofy and we say the most random shit. We are like the radio show/ TV show gone wrong ha it’s amazing.  There is no filter with us. Rose being this crazy successful Latin woman with crazy ass opinions she thinks are fact and my hipster/white girl view on pop culture and love. Even though we are both Mexican and we actually share the same last name Garcia. Most people don’t know that.

Rose: Of course! These Real L Word fans are loyal! We also have a large international fan base so we have listeners from all over the world. That's the cool thing about our radio show; international fans can access it now. In some countries they are just getting done with The Real L Word season 2 years later. The fans have embraced our new endeavor. The feedback and support has been awesome!

What was the driving force behind creating a radio show with your best friend? When was the idea conceived?

Romi: We just did a ton of events and traveling together hosting parties. I am with CGM Management for hosting and wanted to start a radio show and asked Rose to do with me. There is no one else that I have this special energy with. Shit just works and makes us and people around us laugh. As they say we have good “Chemistry”.

Rose: Romi and I have an amazing chemistry and banter. She was involved in hosting and the idea evolved from a casual conversation. The next thing I know we are at L.A. Talk Live shooting our first show. We slapped together a "script" of topics and pretty much improvised the entire show. The fan reaction was amazing. We thought we would be the only ones laughing. We are silly and foolish but really do take this show seriously. We want to give the best during those 60 minutes. If I don't get tweets during the show commenting on a funny bit, we failed. Luckily that hasn't happened yet. The fans on social media have a huge impact on the direction of the show as we are LIVE and read the reaction to bits and jokes.

Is there anyone you would want on your show or to co-host? Famous or not.

Romi: Mark Sanchez and to go over sports news with us. He’s a babe. Or my new crush Taylor Swift. Ugh she is growing up to be such a babe and her new album is on repeat in my car. Totally Guilty. We have guest DJs, too, so if my wife Samantha Ronson wants to DJ …  Just saying.

Rose: I think at some point we need to have our crazy moms on the show. They are both young, energetic, opinionated women. That would be fun! As for my famous choice I would have to say Fortune Feimster! We’ve invited her and are waiting on her to stop being so famous. "Answer my texts FORTUNE and bring Chelsea with you!! ". In addition my dream co-host would be any of the damn Kardashians. I would even take Khloe as a guest host!

So if you’ve been lazy and haven’t been tuning into the Romi and Rose Show, I think it’s about time to crank that radio up! Even if you miss the live broadcast on the air, the girls post their current shows on YouTube for everyone to see!
