First Lady Michelle Obama To Recognize True Colors: Out Youth Theater

The theater will receive an award for historic creative youth development programs.

Boston-based True Colors: Out Youth Theater, the nation’s longest running queer youth theater group, is set to receive the National Arts & Humanities Youth Program Award from First Lady Michelle Obama.

True Colors is the first LGBTQ organization in history to receive this award and will be one of twelve honorees. The theater uses a proven community-based theater approach to train and activate LGBTQ and allied youth, between the ages of 14 and 29.

The twelve winners of the National Arts & Humanities Youth Program Award will be invited to the White House to recognize their programs’ effectiveness in developing young people’s learning and life skills by engaging them in the arts and humanities.

First Lady Michelle Obama will present the awards during a ceremony at the White House on Tuesday November 15 at 2PM, which will be streamed live here.
