New Lesbian Thriller Kicks Off Crowdfunding Campaign

This low-budget indie short is not your typical horror film.

New York based filmmaker Jay Palmieri Jr. has embarked on his newest project Léa. This mature erotic thriller is inspired by classic gothic romances and French cinema. It moves away from Palmieri’s earlier work within the slasher subgenre.

Léa will include female and LGBT characters in prominent roles with a strong focus on character development.

The film tells the story of a young mail-order-bride from France who has recently lost her American husband to illness. She enjoys her new found freedom, finally rid of the man she felt nothing for but she begins to feel a menacing presence lurking around her.

This film doesn’t employ the typical tactics of the horror genre; it isn’t about speedy shocking images that come out of the dark. The most chilling factor comes from the power of underestimation and trust with someone who is familiar.

The filmmakers need an additional $6,000 to reach their goal of bringing this indie short to life. So far they have raised $1,300.
