Looking for something to do this week? Why hello, London Short Film Festival

The LSFF is a place for diversity and culture to exist at the forefront

Ah, January. The time of the year when you either decide to spend every day at the gym or curl up in front of a movie…

Thankfully this month we can all experience the latter at the London Short Film Festival, indulging in plenty of independent films that are diverse, creative and queer

The festival will feature films that have been produced and/or directed by (as well as featuring plenty of) LGBTQI+ folk. It’s celebrating its sixteenth year running this time around and artists have used their screen time at LSFF to remind us of issues that are so often made marginal…

Kicking off the year of the queer, (which is, tbh, every year in our books) with culture aficionados New Queer Visions who will present a four part commentary on toxic masculinity on the 17 January and eight short films and documentaries from queer experiences around the world on the 19 January. (Find 'em both at Regent Street, London).

Club Des Femmes presents queer films to #FuckTrump, which includes a screening of the ever-so-iconic I Want A Dyke For President, as well as Pratibha Parmar’s queer black feminist film A Place Of Rage on the 18 January.

As well as films, you can also attend panels led by trailblazers in the film industry who will discuss everything from music videos to programming.

The LSFF is a place for diversity and culture to exist at the forefront; where queer community issues are explored by all and enjoyed by all of us.

#LSFF2019 is organised by the British Film Institute, which aims to encourage audiences to connect to all film, old and new.

Fancy it? LSFF runs from the 11-20 January 2019. For details click here.
