Film Review: Margarita

Margarita is the movie that you didn’t see coming.

Comic and heart-warming, it is a beautifully executed film that is sure to leave a lasting impression.

Margarita is a nanny for a fourteen year old girl and her well-to-do parents. From fixing breakfast to fixing the gutters, Margarita does it all.

Ben and Gail, a dentist and a doctor respectively, have not been careful with their money. A combination of frivolous spending and bad investments leave them deep in the pits of financial ruin.

Attempting to salvage whatever they can, they decide that firing Margarita will help to pave the way to fiscal freedom.

They quickly learn that Margarita more than earns her keep with them. Now, not only are they floundering monetarily, they are floundering with their daily routine.

As the story unfolds, a series of events lead to an investigation, and the eventual deportation of Margarita. The entire household becomes wrought with panic. Carlos, the family handy man, Ben, and even Gail all offer to marry Margarita in order to keep her in the country.

Hurt, confused and heart broken, Margarita decides that she will return to Mexico and start to pursue a better life for herself. Until the one person she has been waiting for gives her the offer she cannot refuse…

This movie is absolutely outstanding. The performances from everyone in the cast are so sincere and genuine; it was perfectly cast. The story line is fresh and engaging. If I had one negative thing to say about Margarita, it’s this: it leaves you wanting more. I wanted to see more of these characters. Give me a collection of stories and movies with these characters – you just can’t get enough!

Margarita is a simply fabulous film. It will entertain you, and it will touch your heart. It is the perfect fit for your movie date this weekend!
