In Their Absence by Tina Cesa Ward

Love found, love lost.r

Tina Cesa Ward made “In Their Absence” in 2004, before she became known for some of the best web series out there today—“Anyone But Me”, “Good People In Love” and “Producing Juliet”.

This short film is about two women who fall in love during WWII.  It takes place in a smoke filled club that’s populated by women since the men are at war.

No words are spoken throughout the 8:20 the film runs, but the music, the period atmosphere and the expressions on the women’s faces when they find out WWII is over, don’t need words.

“In Their Absence” is a very nuanced film that left me feeling sad on the one hand and glad on the other that we live in the time that we do.
