Of the EP, Grayson says, "For the first time I’m able to be openly myself with this release. I’m extremely lucky and thankful for my team, especially the genius producer of the record, Aidan."

"Finding my identity as an artist and a human has been a challenging and ongoing process. The video is a light-hearted and a playful riff off of that—but I also think there’s importance behind the variety of emotions shown and at times the intensity.”

We grabbed Grayson for a heart-to-heart for the Pride issue of Curve, out in June.

Having been brought up according to the dictates of the Mormon Church, they were sheltered from much of mainstream pop culture. Today, much of their constant stream of inspiration is due to the fact that so much of their musical and cultural discovery is new.

“Growing up in the Church influences everything, and in ways I don’t think I can even express. I only left the Church about four years ago, so I think I am still finding out how it affects me and how it will continue to affect me. There’s a lot of really beautiful things that I took from my childhood, but there’s a lot of things that I was maybe cut off from,” Grayson says.

“I feel like I am just now discovering Grace Jones and Madonna and Annie Lennox and all of these icons that I never had access to. There was no queer infiltration to my youth. I was 17 when I saw my first queer kiss; it was in the Hayley Kiyoko “Girls Like Girls” video. Right now, I get to experience all of these things for the first time. Right now I am inspired by everything.”
