Dont let ABC Family make a “Huge” mistake. Join Jezebel.com in saving the groundbreaking, lesbian helmed series by signing this petition.

Early this week, ABC Family announced that its groundbreaking series Huge has not been renewed for a second season. Developed by out lesbian Savannah Dooley and executive produced by My So-Called Life producer Winnie Holzman, Huge followed a group of overweight teens at their summer fat camp.

With a premise like that, Huge could have easily been simply a saccharine life-lesson-fest or, worse, a fatsploitative joke. However, what Dooley and Holzman created in Huge was one of the most charming, stereotype-busting and endearing shows in years—that just so happens to be about fat teens.

Starring Nikki Blonsky, Hayley Hasselhoff and Gina Torres—along with a cast of new faces—Huge routinely tackled heavy issues ranging from eating disorders, queer teens and even asexuality, while managing to avoid making the audience feel like they were watching a very special episode of Blossom.

Not to mention that the body diversity this show represented on television was like a breath of fresh air.

The folks over at Jezebel.com have begun a petition to save Huge from cancellation. If body diversity and wonderfully written television are something you support—helmed by a lesbian, no less—help them reach their goal of 100,000 signatures.

Sign the petition here.
