The Blush Factor by Gun Brooke

A warmhearted, engaging, 'classical' lesbian romance.

Published:

This is a very well written, warmhearted, sexy, classical lesbian romance by prolific Swedish author Gun Brooke. It is set in Manhattan and Newark and plays out in a high-level business setting.
Two worlds collide when Eleanor Ashcroft, feared "boardroom barracuda" and focused businesswoman from Manhattan, meets Addison Garry, a young woman from Newark whose priority is to take care of her sister as her legal guardian. Their difference in age and social
background make it unlikely, but there is that instant spark of attraction between them. And, although both main characters carry some emotional baggage the book focuses as a classical romance should - on their growing attraction.
Gun Brooke captures very well the two different "worlds" the two main characters live in and folds this setting neatly into the story. Since I am not really interested in the beauty industry where the business story is set I was not sure whether I would like the book, but there was no need to worry - it is just an excellent background to stage the romance. What was unexpected was the brilliant and glowing secondary character of Stacey, Addison's younger sister. Witty, world-wise, engaging, she will have garnered many a fan at the end of the story. And the mention of music and the brilliant musicians of „Coffee Sonata“, one of my favorite romances, was delightful.
So, if you are looking for a well-edited, multi-layered romance with engaging characters this is a great read and maybe a re-read for those days when comfort food is a must.
