Empire Nightclub (formerly Gotham Citi), the New Haven Pride Center, the City of New Haven Department of Arts, Culture, and Tourism and the New Haven Cultural Affairs Commission present PRIDE NEW HAVEN WEEKEND SEPTEMBER 18 – 21. The city’s LGBTQ pride event is back and better than ever! All families, children and community members are welcome to join us in our celebration of queer life and diversity in Connecticut.
THURS. SEPT. 18: The weekend begins with the PRIDE KICKOFF RECEPTION in the 1st floor Atrium at New Haven City Hall. 5:30 – 7:30 PM, 165 Church Street. Now You See Me: Queer Identities photography project, featuring images of LGBTQ lives in Connecticut by New Haven photographers. New Haven Pride Center volunteers will announce the 2014 Dorothy Award Recipients. Live entertainment and refreshments from local restaurants. Proclamation by Mayor Toni Harp. Press encouraged to attend.
FRI. SEPT. 19: Join us for the NEW HAVEN PRIDE CENTER OPEN HOUSE. 6:30 – 8:30 PM, 84 Orange Street. Meet and greet the Center volunteers and hear about its mission to serve the needs of the LGBTQ community. Leaders of some of the Center’s many social and support groups are excited to show you their new home in downtown New Haven! Snacks and refreshments. Press encouraged to attend.
SAT. SEPT. 20: PRIDE NEW HAVEN. 4 -10 PM, Crown Street. Join us for New Haven’s most fabulous event! Crown Street will be closed to traffic from Church to Orange for our Pride New Haven celebration. Drag shows on our outdoor stage will feature Empire performers and other Connecticut-based talent. Stay tuned for our special headliner announcement! Vendors, information, and local food trucks. Games including twister and our famous Dunk-A-Queen booth! Our volunteers are ready to make your Pride the best one yet. Families, children, and press are encouraged to attend.
10 PM – 2 AM: PRIDE AFTER-PARTY at Empire Nightclub (formerly Gotham Citi), corner of Church and Crown Streets. Our queens are fierce and ready to party until the sun comes up! Join us for drinks, dancing, and drag. After-party is 18+.
SUN. SEPT. 21: Bid farewell to Pride Weekend in style! Join us for a WRAP-UP BRUNCH. 2 – 5 PM, sponsored by and located at Lucky Chao’s, 27 Temple Street. Unlimited mimosas and delicious brunch buffet 19.95+tax/person. Entertainment including music, drag, and comedy.
