Christmas has come early for one lucky couple…
Earlier this year, DIVA partnered up with Shotgun Weddings to offer one lucky couple the chance to win a wedding worth £15,000.
We asked you to send us a photograph and short paragraph about how you fell in love, and you didn’t disappoint. We received hundreds of entries and narrowing it down was almost impossible. But only one couple could win, and after weeks of judging the winners are Emma and Carly!
The gorgeous couple, who live in Kent, received more votes than anyone else on social media, and while Shotgun Weddings’ Emma Joanne joked it was their “cute matching onesies” that won it, the truth is they moved us all to tears with a heart-wrenching story.
“At the age of 34 my wife died suddenly from meningitis,” Emma told us. “That day my world changed. I was a young widow, single parent of a three-year-old, desperately sad, scared and lonely. Nearly two years later I joined a dating site. Carly87 from Devon winked at me. How could anything come from it? Devon is 250 miles away! Eventually, we decided to meet. That day was full of feelings and emotions. The moment I first saw her, my heart started beating again. That day, I got my life back, and found my happy ever after.”
Once we’d decided on our winners, DIVA’s Roxy Bourdillon called them to give them an early Christmas present. Emma and Carly were under the impression it was the final round of judging, but we had something else in mind! Warning – you might want to get the tissues out for this.
