AIDS and HIV As director of the clinical HIV program at University of California, San Francisco, Dr. Margaret Poscher is unquestionably in the forefront of AIDS and HIV care. In 1993, she opened the San Francisco clinic Quest, a multi-specialty group that focuses on people with HIV.
"Working with patients and giving them care and information they need is the most rewarding part of my work," says Dr. Poscher. The clinic provides everything from nutrition counseling to acupuncture to chemotherapy. Poscher says people often comment that her work with infected patients must be quite depressing. Poscher disagrees. "There is a lot of laughter happening between myself and my patients," she says. "My patients feel safe with me."
