Rumors continue to fly about actor Jodie Foster’s closet status. The Brave One star has worked hard to maintain a firm wall between her personal and professional life, which has led to gossip she’s in the closet. But a recent speech has been called by some gossipers Foster’s coming out.
At the 16th annual Hollywood Reporter’s Women in Entertainment Power 100 breakfast, the rumors may have been finally put to rest when Foster thanked “my beautiful Cydney who sticks with me through all the rotten and the bliss,” during her acceptance speech for the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award. Foster and Cydney Bernard, presumed to be longtime partners, met in 1993 on the set of Sommersby.
Then again, this may just be another note in the same old song. Gossipmongers went wild when Foster commented on her “eternity ring” in an interview with More, where she also said, “I just don’t talk about my health, my dad, who I voted for or what I think of the death penalty, because that would be trivializing my life, selling it for a magazine.”
Love her or hate her, the woman has a point, not to mention a right to privacy. Which didn’t stop her from ranking 43rd on Out’s list of Hollywood’s powerful gays, proving that her best efforts to avoid questions about her sexuality does not prevent others from speculating. At press time, Foster’s publicist could not be reached for comment.
