So many hot women, so little time. But, a few deserve your attention this month.
On The Lot: This new American Idol-style reality show directed by Steven Spielberg and Mark Burnett, where up-and-coming filmmakers compete for a one million dollar development deal with Dreamworks. Over 12,000 submissions were received from over 33 countries, narrowed down to fifty contestants for the first round. Among them was lesbian filmmaker Tamika Miller [add name of film here], who teamed up with two other contestants to produce a short film in 24 hours. Sadly, she got kicked off but we’re sure there’s still a queer in the mix somewhere. You guess whom. Catch the drama Tuesdays on Fox.
Top Chef: Miami: The adorably butch (and rockin’, Mohawkin’ and openly gay) Sandee Birdsong was heating things up in the kitchen on season three of Top Chef, (airing Wednesdays on Bravo). I'm a microwave kinda gal but am completely addicted to this show in which chefs compete $100,000 and the ultimate title of Top Chef. Judges Tom Colicchio, Gail Simmons and delicious hostess Padma Lakshmi run the show, while fifteen chefs duke it out through quick fire challenges. Birdsong was cut (Bravo does plenty of reruns, so you can still catch her on TV) but the blonde-haired, blue-eyed lesbian from Miami Beach who works as the executive chef at local Beach hotspot, Tantra. She's originally from Georgia and specializes in Southern soul food. (One of her faves: grilled Hamachi collar with Southern collard greens and jalapeno corn bread—yum). Her motto: Dream as if you'll live forever; live as if you'll die today. Oh, and there are still a couple of gay men left on the show and maybe a bi-curious girl or two.
The Curl Girls: These chicks will be surfing all summer on Logo in this hot reality series. It stars a group of lesbian surfer girls in Venice Beach, California, competing for a trip to Hawaii and new surfboards. Starring Gingi, Michele, Melissa, Erin, Vanessa and Jessica, Curl Girls has plenty of eye candy as these six hot bikini-clad athletes bear all. Some of the girls are lovers, some are friends, and all are competing against one other for the win. Dyke drama ensues as rocky relationships are put to the test and new bonds are formed. Airtimes vary; see logoonline.com for details.
The Bitch is Back: OK, enough of the TV, it’s time for some aural pleasure. Sandra Bernhard has released a new enhanced CD, Everything Bad and Beautiful, taken from her hit off-Broadway show of the same name. The disc features unreleased monologues, new music, and an enhanced video section featuring clips from her sold out New Year's Eve performance. “Undressed” has Bernhard crooning, “I must confess, I like you better undressed,” and is completely overproduced and cheesy, which was surely her intention. A must-listen.
