Actor, model and writer Farrah Krenek may still be looking for her big break, but don’t say she’s waiting for it. Determined to make it to the big screen, Krenek says she does the best she can with every role handed to her, even if only as a background extra, and calls her work so far, “like being a small flower in a bed of roses.”
“Being a small character of any kind of means getting to hang around with amazing people,” Krenek says. Having worked on jobs alongside big name celebs like Michael Keaton and Ethan Hawke, Krenek is happy to pay her dues in small parts, as long as she can keep doing what she loves. Her latest role as an extra in My Super Ex-Girlfriend helped her earn the credits she needed to become a member of the Screen Actors Guild.
Her resumé includes the usual commercials and extra jobs that most actors hold early in their careers, as well as the role of Melanie in Eating Out, an off-off-Broadway play about a woman’s struggle with anorexia and bulimia, produced by Shea Theater. It was a role that Krenek says hit close to home, having suffered from an eating disorder herself.
“I took the role extremely seriously because it affects millions of women everyday,” she says. “It was a combination of emotion, sadness and happiness.”
With a sexy, deep voice that holds the hint of an Eastern European accent, the 29-year-old New Yorker says, “At my age, failure is not an option. … And no matter how big or small the role, you should do your best.”
Krenek says her inspirations include Hilary Swank, Angela Bassett and Chloe Sevigny. Hopefully, we’ll get lucky and see more of this hot lesbian on-screen soon.
