When we last spied on Regina, High School Scholar and Budding Dyke Extraordinaire, she was debating how to tell her boyfriend accessory, Brad, that she's playing for the other team — and that no, she doesn't mean football. . . .
I really really really wish there were a "rewind" button on the Great Remote Control of Life. I thought I'd found an easy solution to my problem, but I ended up making things worse! As usual.
I had it all planned out. I told Brad that I was dumping him because I liked Juan, who's really just one of my best friends and gay besides, although he's not out yet either. I thought I was being smart, since Juan and I spend so much time together we COULD be going out, so we'd both be able to keep up appearances. Brad has even been jealous of Juan before. It was the perfect plan!
But it completely backfired. OK maybe not completely, since my news had the right effect on Brad — he stomped off in a huff. But when I looked at Juan, he was staring at me with his jaw dropped, totally stupefied, and then HE got mad too. Really mad.
Guess I should've run my plan by him first, because apparently he was all set to come out when I implicated him in another sordid heterosexual "affair." Now nobody's going to know WHAT to believe if he comes out. Oops. But how was I supposed to know??? I had no idea, I thought he'd be GLAD to have a phony girlfriend to get the homophobes off his scent.
So I have no b/f, no g/f, no gmf (gay male friend), and our school has no GSA (gay-straight alliance). I'm a totally alienated girl with no acronyms to console me. Great move, Regina! Grrr . . .
Bye for now
