CURVE EDITOR AND WEB PRODUCER ONE OF FIRST 100 SAME-SEX COUPLES TO WED IN SAN FRANCISCO Historic Day for Hundreds of Same-Sex Couples Allowed Legally to Marry for the First Time in United States History SAN FRANCISCO (February 12, 2004) — CURVE, the best-selling lesbian magazine, today celebrates the marriage of managing editor Gretchen Lee to her partner of seven years, the magazine’s Web producer Evie Leder. The couple was wed on the steps of the rotunda of San Francisco’s City Hall, with California State Assemblymember Mark Leno officiating.
Earlier this week, San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom announced that he had ordered the San Francisco County Clerk to provide marriage licenses to any couple, regardless of gender or sexual orientation.
Lee and Leder make their home in San Francisco and are expecting their first child in April 2004.
