Inspired by the OUTmusic Awards, also known as the LGBT Academy of Recording Arts (LARA), we hosted a three-part live video interview series revolving around queer music. In our third interview we got to chat with the chairwoman of the OUTmusic Awards, Dee Meredith (a.k.a. singer Deepa Soul) and singers Diana King, Billie Myers, God-Des & She, Jen Foster and Ember Swift. Each woman spoke on the geographical and generational differences they experienced and how that impacted how they were received as LGBT artists, the blurred line between queer musician and advocate, the fluidity in sexual orientation and the importance in coming together as queer musicians and as women.
