Daily Gaydar: Christina Aguilera releases her Let There be Love video, lesbian cinema Goddess Kathy Wolfe gets married and Burning Man continues over the holiday weekend.
Plus, watch the trailer for Jane Lynch’s new film, Afternoon Delight.
It’s Friday, everybody! Let’s start the weekend out right with a lot of love!
Kathy Wolfe, founder of Wolfe Video- the largest LGBT film distributor worldwide, married her partner of 21 years last Friday. The wedding took place in San Francisco’s City Hall. It was a well-deserved moment for Wolfe, who has raised thousands of dollars in support of the National Marriage Equality Organization. [Shewired]
Lesbians, or any girls interested in exploring their sexuality, are invited to Camp Beaverton at Burning Man, which will continue over the weekend. This all inclusive ladies camp is one of the many themed communities that are created in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert every year. Will you be one of the 50,000 people there this summer? [Lesbian]
Lily Loveless (Skins) is playing another lesbian character in Kate Lane’s Fear of Water, a film that’s based on the director’s own coming out story. We’re sure that a lot of Curvettes will be able to relate to the story. Lane describes her self-acceptance as a “feeling of freedom” and a “breaking free of sorts!” Expect to see the film in 2014. Good news came this week for same-sex couples who have moved out of the state they were married in. Federal filing status will no longer change for legally married couples living in states where same-sex marriage is not yet recognized. This means that couples will now be able to file taxes jointly, no matter where in the country they’re living. [Buzzfeed]
Lezzie favorite Jane Lynch plays a hilarious role in Jill Soloway’s new film Afternoon Delight. The movie was premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Dramatic Directing Award. Lynch plays a comedic therapist to co-star Kathryn Hahn, who tries to help a teenage stripper get her life back on track. Watch the quirky trailer and tell me you don’t already love it. [Indiewire]
We’ve got more good news on the political front! Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg will become the first Supreme Court member to ever officiate a same-sex wedding. She’ll be conducting the ceremony of Kennedy Center President Michael Kaiser and his hubby-to-be, John Roberts this Saturday. Love is in the air! [Washingtonpost]
And finally, what better way to celebrate Friday and start your holiday weekend than by watching Christina Aguilera’s video release of Let There be Love. Have a great weekend! [Huffingtonpost]
