Plus, we have the season two trailer for Kiss Her I’m Famous, and a new song from Tegan and Sara

The album is set to release in November. [eonline]

Out singer Angel Haze did an amazing freestyle over Macklemore’s “Same Love.” The original version saw some controversy when it came out, but we think there’s nothing but genuine honesty in what Haze raps about in her freestlye.

Mark your calendars for Nov. 15 and make sure to get your tickets to The Geography Club. The movie, based on Brent Hartinger’s novel, follows a group of LGBT teens who find support amongst one another under the cover of their unassuming after school club’s name. The movie will be on demand and in select theatres on the 15th before opening in other cities across the country. [glaad]

The season two trailer for Kiss Her I’m Famous has been released.

What’s this? A new tune from Tegan and Sara? That’s right, Shudder to Think is the latest from our girls, composed and performed for The Dallas Buyers Club, a true story film about a man battling AIDS — the proceeds of which go towards AIDS relief. [shewired]

Katy Perry opened up a little bit about the truth behind “I Kissed a Girl” in the most recent issue of W.

She also describes a scene with a lady from her past: “[S]he was that friend, the one that you idolize and maybe even have a weird obsession-slash-crush on. We were standing on her bed, wearing her clothes — because her clothes were cooler — and she put on ‘Killer Queen.’

My world froze. It was a very cinematic feeling, and it opened up this lyrical world.” [wmagazine]

With the 2008 recession came one of only a few good things — Queer Rebels Productions. Artists KB Boyce and Celesete Chan created the company and are standing up and making a name for queer artists of color in order to keep their histories alive.

On Nov. 13 in New York, see films by Queer Rebels at the MIX NYC Film Festival. Tickets are $13, and the event is taking place at The MIX Factory in Brooklyn. [queerrebels]

GLSEN’s Repect Awards were last week, honoring people making strides in their schools, workplaces and communities to bring tolerance and compassion for others. Oh yeah, and Respect. As cool as it is that the likes of Chloe Grace Moretz and Kirsten Vangsness were there, the highlight of the night was probably Laila Al-Shamma’s, the winner of the Student Advocate of the Year Award, moving acceptance speech, which you can watch right here.
