Have any of you been wondering how Tegan and Sara ended up on stage with Taylor Swift at the Staples Center in August? The story is, Swift fell in love with Tegan and Sara’s song “Closer,” which plays on the trailer for G.B.F. If we asked you to look at every gay-activist petition on the Internet, you’d never leave your computer, but this heartfelt letter from Italian Nobel Prize winner Dario Fo to Guido Barilla asking him to make a commercial featuring LGBT families is worth a special mention. Beautifully penned (or keyed), this petition isn’t accepting Barilla’s apologies so far, and will accept nothing less than a queer friendly commercial as amends. Yearlong Liverpool Museum exhibit “April Ashley: Portrait of a Lady” is now open, featuring bold photographs and personal documents that tell the life of April Ashley, LGBT rights activist and Britain’s first transgender icon.
