Watch: New Trailer for Coming of Age Film Mosquita y Mari
In a world where your loyalties are to family, teens Yolanda and Mari begin to share an unspoken bond that will test everything they know.
Life in Huntington Beach, Los Angeles, an immigrant community where your family is your pack, is a land of dreams for best friends Yolanda (Fenessa Pineda) and Mari (Venecia Troncoso)—two girls who escape the watchful eye of their parents. A situation at school catapults Yolanda and Mari into a blossoming friendship that seems to border something more, while their grades begin to suffer and their families taken even closer notice.
Directed by Aurora Guerrero, this moving, tender and exploratory film prompts questions about culture, family and the various boundaries Yolanda and Mari come face to face with. It has been picked up for the Sundance Film Festival and San Francisco International Film Festival.
