Ever wonder what Indigo Girl Amy Ray looked like as a pre-teen? How about what she looks like driving on an animated rainbow road while a CGI horse gallops past? The prolific folk-rock duo’s new video, “Making Promises,” features these delightful images and more, in a collage-like mash-up of animation and home movies spanning the last few decades.
The Indigo Girls undoubtedly had a lot of material to work with when crafting “Making Promises”—not only have they been playing music together since the mid-'80s, the pair have been friends since elementary school. With the dreamy tune serving as the backdrop, we see Amy Ray and Emily Saliers—leather jackets, ripped jeans and all—in their early Indigo days: in the kitchen, on the road and, of course, on the stage.
