Calling all San Francisco Bay Area dykes, the premier free art and music festival is back for its third annual event. Put it on your calendar now!

Bring Your Own Queer (BYOQ) is a free daytime music, art and performance festival held annually in Golden Gate Park.

Now in its third year, BYOQ continues to expand on its mission of celebrating diversity and promoting collaboration and community building through art. BYOQ brings together some of the Bay Area’s best musicians and performers under one gorgeous roof: the historic Bandshell between the De Young Museum and The Academy of Sciences. This year’s festival will be held Sept. 17 from 12-6 pm.

Festival Director, Rebeka Rodriguez, says she “couldn’t be more excited about this year’s lineup.” With San Francisco DJ and drag legend Juanita MORE! headlining the event, and the queer DJ collective Honey Soundsystem rounding out the dance-heavy sets, this year’s BYOQ is sure to please.

The amazing 2011 lineup also features performances by the Queer Chicana Starlet La Chica Boom, and the ever-quirky performance art of Philip Huang. “We’re just thrilled to have such incredible queer artists represented,” says Rodriguez. “I can’t wait to hear Honey and Juanita’s beats echoing from the Bandshell, or see how the performers utilize the incredible space.”

BYOQ 2011 will also feature the roller antics of The Vagine Regime / SF Bay Area Derby Girls, a Fashion Show & Performance by Archetype Boutique, visual art installations, a bike repair stand and complimentary valet bike parking by Queers for Gears, community information tables, as well as an extensive array of local craft and fashion vendors in our Fashion Forest.
