Remembering Del Martin

Del Martin was a pioneer, an icon and a hero. Her activism changed the face of the lesbian community, and her death on August 27, 2008 was mourned by us all. Now that our right to marry hangs in the balance once again, these photos of Martin’s public memorial service at San Francisco City Hall on October 1, 2008 remind us of the work she accomplished, and the work still to be done.[All photos by Kasey Neuenschwander]

Hello to all of this great Curve Magazine staff..
Days ago, I found out about Del Martin, long ago, when I was a teenager, living in a foreing country, I tried to get in touch with her and her partner, it wasnt possible, I was reading her book, by then, For me, she was a great woman of her own time, I always admire her how she had the enough encouragement to get her own goals and help all of us, gay women, very repressed by that time, ( 70s) I am a mexican gay woman living with my wife in Australia, so my very deep symphaties to Phyl her partner and her beloved daughter for this lost.
Sincerely
Maria Hirsch ( Nee Luzma Guadarrama)
