Hate Crime in Tel Aviv

Hate Crime in Tel Aviv

A horrific act of violence transpired in Tel Aviv, Israel, Saturday that has rocked the city’s LGBT community.

According to news reports, a masked man armed with an M-16 rifle entered the city's Gay Youth Center Saturday night and opened fire on those inside killing two and injuring 15. Head of the Gay Youth Center Yaniv Weizmann speculated that the shooting seemed like a premeditated attack on the LGBT community.

The two lives claimed in the shooting were those of Nir Katz, 26, and Liz Trobishi, 16. Reportedly hundreds of people attended their separate memorial services. Since their deaths, memorials have been held all across the U.S. in both Washington, D.C. and San Francisco. As of yet, the shooter remains unidentified.

The fact that these beautiful preciouse lives have been taken in such a way is devastating not just to our community but to me personally.
Coverage has been very sparse in England so we have had limited information.
No matter what they had PRIDE.

I was very sad to hear this story. Why is there some much hate and stupidity from some people? Let LGBT people live their lives. NO VIOLENCE! I have been reading stories from the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commision, Human Rights Watch, and other organizations about the treatment of LGBT people in other countries and it is appalling. Thank goodness for the organizations that are helping. There are too many lives being lost because of ignorance, intolerance, and lack of respect for human life. PEACE, ACCEPTANCE, UNDERSTANDING, RESPECT, CARING, LOVE are all needed in this world IMMEDIATELY!!!!!
