Shades of Pride

Three years after Building on the Rainbow, organizers of the largest pride for people of color in North Carolina are offering the LGBTQA community and its allies an chance to I.N.D.U.L.G.E as part of the Third annual Triangle Black Pride, July 26-29, 2012.

Shades of Pride, presenters of the event, will be offering a series of workshops to educate, a Jazz Brunch to enlighten, and a Pajama Jam to entertain during the weekend.

The mission statement of Shades of Pride is to celebrate and honor the diversity of the African American LGBTQ community in the Triangle through events open to all. The agency will also work to deliver programs that increase awareness, prevention and control of HIV/AIDS, diabetes, breast and prostate cancer and other health disparities affecting minority populations.

Past prides have featured free LGBT film festivals, workshops on financial planning and heart awareness, and a writer’s panel featured Lisa Moore, owner of Redbone Press.
