L.A., Prepare Yourself For A Very Sordid Screening

Fresh from the festival circuit, A Very Sordid Wedding continues its sell-out screenings across the country.

The movie is the sequel to Sordid Lives, the cult classic “black comedy about white trash,” which came out 17 years ago.

In the new movie, SCOTUS has approved marriage equality, and the story focuses on a young gay man and his older drag queen uncle in a very small and conservative, Christian town in Texas.

A Very Sordid Wedding explores the questions, bigotry, and the fallout of what happens when gay marriage comes to communities and families that are not quite ready to accept it.  Del Shores’ trademark approach to using comedy and his much-beloved Sordid Lives characters deal with these important current social issues and the very real process of accepting your family for who they are instead of who you want them to be.

After premiering at the Palm Springs Film Festival earlier this year, the film went on to play in 31 cities across the US, and sold out twenty of those.

It is now making its debut in Los Angeles with a special screening presented by Outfest on August 16 at the Fine Art Theater in Beverly Hills, followed by additional screenings August 18 – 24. Head here for tickets.
