A Glimpse of An Horse

An Horse could possibly be the most unassuming rock band in history. Not the type to destroy hotel rooms and throw back bottles of Jack, Damon Cox and Kate Cooper are more inclined to find a local swimming hole or watch a movie on AMC after shows. “We’re the cleanest-living rock band,” Cooper proudly claims.The recent release of Walls, the follow up to 2009’s Rearrange Beds, has proven that An Horse is a band meant for not only the big time, but also the long-term. A Quickee With Raimy Rosenduft

We here at She's Electric (that'd be Melany and Janelle) are music fanatics. We met in the name of music. No, seriously. I (Janelle) was touring with Minneapolis based Sick of Sarah and Melany was covering the band for a music blog she writes for Curve magazine (that'd be this one). So, in between interviewing the artists we love, we also, from time to time, like to tune-in to like-minded music heads for what's spinning in their neck of the woods. Un-Jaded with Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros

It’s easy to write off psychedelic super group Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros as one of L.A.’s newest musical shticks. With their whimsical prairie garb, dreadlocks and obvious appreciation of a certain herbal substance, the band is easy to stereotype. And while it is true that their lineup includes a former ABC Family star, an American Apparel model and a cadre of west coast scenesters, including former Ima Robot front man, Alex Ebert who now dresses like the next messiah, it may surprise that Edward Sharpe and their free-loving ethos is a Kool-Aid worth drinking.One of two women in the ten person ensemble and the ingénue behind their breakthrough single, “Home” is Jade Castrinos. She’s Electric: Staying Gold

Ah, Melissa Etheridge and I. We’ve shared a love of cigarette smoke, a lead guitarist or two and now we’ll be sharing a divorce lawyer. How’s that for randomly tying in some celeb hijinks with my own rock and roll drama? C’est vrai. I’ve been on hiatus for a bit, getting a new city, a new name and new behind-the-scenes dirt on a slew of emerging artists who have kept me entertained with their tales of debauchery and lovemaking. Wow. Did I really write that?
